Lily Selah

Our precious Lily passed away recently, and we are gathering to honor and remember her. We invite you to join us if you are able. Services will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at 1 pm. We will meet at Sky Rose Chapel, located at Rose Hills Memorial Park (map and directions below), and will afterwards continue up to Grace Terrace for burial and graveside memorial.

In her short life, Lily touched and changed the lives of so many. She was loved abundantly by so many, and will be greatly missed. Our family will be forever changed by her. She taught us so much, and affected growth, insight, and depths that may never be fully understood by most.

Lily was born with Alexander Disease, a very rare neurological disorder. In her life, she suffered global delays, countless inabilities, multiple types of seizures, several hospital visits and stays, many medical therapies, equipment, and interventions. Although her original expected lifespan was 4-6 years, we recently celebrated her eighth birthday. This milestone was reached by the mercy and grace of God, excellent nurses, the loving care of family and friends, and by her own strength of spirit. Lily was incredibly strong, determined, and resilient. She had a cheeky sense of humor, loved all kinds of music, enjoyed meeting people, and adored her big brother Levi. She was silly, sassy, stubborn, full of personality, and immensely sweet. For a child who could seemingly “do” so little, she made a mark on the world and those around her that will not be lost or forgotten. What an honor to be her parents. We are incredibly proud of her.

We are so thankful to each of you who played a part in her life, who loved her, and who have supported our family over the last 8 years.

Please watch this video, made a few years ago by some amazing nursing students, about Lily and our family. The information about Alexander Disease is helpful, getting a peek into Lily's journey is enlightening, and our family is still so touched by the genuine interest and care of these nurses. The video they made is truly amazing: Link to Video

Please consider planting a lily of any kind in or around your home, to add some beauty, and to remind you of our sweet girl, and our family. Lily plants and bulbs will be given out at her memorial for this purpose.
